Master's Degree Business Studies (MBS)

Program Objective

The objective of the MBS program is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations, particularly in the functional areas of management as well as to demonstrate knowledge of a specific field of study. This includes components such as independent research and analysis, critical evaluation and application, the ability to solve complex problems as well as working independently. FOM program lays special emphasis on developing graduates managerial and entrepreneurial skills over a solid foundation of theories and techniques. Upon graduation, a student should be able to function as a manager in business, industry, government and non-government sectors, within and outside the country, in areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management. The MBS program specifically aims to:

  1. Equip the students with required conceptual knowledge of business and management.
  2. Prepare managers in the functional areas of management.
  3. Develop knowledge and skill of business environment in national and global perspective.
  4. Encourage entrepreneurial capabilities in students to make them effective change agents in the Nepalese society.
  5. Develop research capability in the students.

Core Courses

Core business courses integrate all analytical and functional areas and provide students with an appreciation of the diversity and inter-relationship of business and management issues. It includes subjects such as Research Methodology, Statistical Methods, Managerial Economics,
Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Financial Management, Management Accountancy, Accounting for Financial and Managerial Decision and Control, Marketing Management, Production and Operations Management, International Business, Managerial Communication, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management and Business Environment.

Specialization Courses

There are four areas of specialization offer for the students. Specialization in any one of the areas, such as, accounting, finance, marketing, and management enables the student to develop expertise in his/her concentration area. Altogether 3 courses are offered in one area of specialization. Students have to choose one specialization area and study one course from group ‘A’ in the thirds semester and 2 courses from group ‘B’ in the fourth semester.

Dissertation

The MBS program requires students to conduct original research work during the four semesters of the two-year study period. Students are required to write a dissertation based on their original research work. Students writing dissertation are encouraged to write their dissertation within the selected specialization area.

Program Objective

The objective of the BBS program is to develop students into competent managers for any sector of organized activity as well as to demonstrate knowledge of a specific field of study. This includes components such as independent research and analysis, critical evaluation and application, the ability to solve complex problems as well as working independently.
Upon graduation, students should be equipped to function as a manager in business, industry and government. The graduate should also have a variety of career opportunities in different sectors of business including entrepreneurship and create much needed jobs for others.

BED: Bachelor's Degree in Education

Students of four-year B.Ed. program will have to study one subject area as specialization major and the next as specialization minor area selecting from among Nepali Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education (physical science), Health and Physical Education, Population Education. Students may also study one of the courses from among Science Education (Biological Science), Health Education, Physical Education, vocational education, Primary Education, Early Childhood Development Education, Non-formal Education and Education Management as specialization minor.
Four-year B.Ed. with annual examination system is a professional as well as academic program designed for preparing competent teachers who can teach two subjects at secondary level.

BA: Bachelor's Degree in Humanities & Social Sciences

Tribhuvan University has launched four-year bachelor’s course in BA from the academic year 2076/077 under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

It is the inter-disciplinary subjects where students can study Compulsory English, Compulsory Nepali, Nepal Studies, Sociology, Economics, Culture, Rural Development, Social Work, Mass Communication and Population Studies within the same stream.

The four-year course is of 2,000 marks (500 marks each year) and students can choose two subjects of 700 marks each as their majors and two subjects of 100 marks each as elective subjects.

There will be three compulsory subjects — English, Nepali and Nepal Studies. English will be of 200 marks, Nepali 100 marks and Nepal Studies 100 marks. English has been made compulsory in the first and third years, while Nepali will be compulsory in the second year and Nepal studies will be compulsory in the third year.

Students will be evaluated on the basis of written examinations of 70 marks, while 30 marks will be for internal assessment, including mini project, classroom presentation and teamwork for each subject.
